Generally speaking I do not keep track of the views each of the videos I posted on my YouTube channel (ACPicks) gets. I have roughly 150 videos and better things to do with my time. However, I have noticed something very odd happening with the counts of the latest videos I posted, all short clips from the feminist classic Nine to Five (1980), starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton. Within two hours of posting these five videos I was surprised to see that they had already been viewed approximately 30 times and mentioned this to someone. Then, over the course of the next days, I noticed that the numbers had gone down. I thought I may have been mistaken about the quick count I made earlier and did not think too much about it. In the following days, however, it was undeniable that the number of views kept decreasing, so I started keeping count. As an example, my video of Lily Tomlin entitled He still calls me his ‘girl’ went from seven views the other day to one view today. Because the total number of views for all my videos taken together keeps increasing I am not alarmed, but still, I find this very odd. I wonder if the counts on my other videos are being manipulated as well and if so, why? Does someone at YouTube have an issue with Nine to Five or with the feminist work I am doing?
